Five Things (YouTube Version)

Finding a new style to post in is posing to be difficult for me because I love sharing my feelings with GIFs! The main goal of this blog is for readers to know me better and that’s by learning that I watch too much TV and many movies and that I’ve forgotten how to communicate like a normal human being. Therefore, this is a silly assignment and I refuse to do it! Correctly.

But, on the other hand, I can communicate with videos! I used to be big into YouTube, even had a channel with subscribers I didn’t have to pay off or anything! I’ve fallen off heavily in the last 4 years, but I happened to be scrolling through my favorite videos and laughing at what kind of stuff I was interested in at the time. Twilight movie trailer? Check (btw, I’m reformed). Makeup tutorials I never used. YESSIR. Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged performance of “Dumb”? You got it.

After the cut, here’s five videos that tell you more about me. Please don’t judge.

1. I’m A Slave 4 U was and is kind of my jam

And I favorited this video on YT because I wanted to know how to do the dance that starts at 1:19. I’d wanted to know how to do it the day I saw the video on TRL (OH NOES I’M REVEALING MY AGE SOME MOAR). I watched that over and over and over to get the interchange of my arms right when she swirls around like a shiny tanned goddess and I did. I can do it. And thank goodness for muscle memory because whenever I watch the video now, I can feel my body wanting to do each of the moves. Needless to say, this was one of the greatest accomplishments of my life.

2. I love animation. I hate history. But I’ll always like history if animation is involved

Granted, this isn’t legit history meant to teach you things, but if there’s anything this video got correct, it’s that George Washington was made of radiation. And hated British children. A descendant of his told me that word for word.

3. I believe football is the greatest sport, flopping players aside

AH HA! Did you think I meant America’s football? PISH! And posh! I meant what this country calls soccer, which is football, is truly the beautiful game. Stuff like Xabi Alonso’s goal happens and you just wonder howwwwww? What kind of magical creature can pull this off? And if you don’t agree with my opinion, that’s cool. But if you say footballsoccer sucks, fight me!

4. I love the idea of working out, I just hate doing it.

Like, I want tight abs and the ass of an angel like everyone else, but the means to getting there don’t hold my attention for long. I prefer doing an activity that doesn’t feel so routine that happens to work out all of my trouble areas to standing in front of a workout DVD and following steps. It just won’t keep my interest for long and the urge to press pause is such a motivation killer. But on the off-chance that I have to do something routine, I’d prefer that it be short. Like this video.

5. If there’s any band that can chill me the eff out, it’s The xx

Specifically this song. It just starts off slow and romantic, and with lyrics that fill you with the warm feels you can only experience when you’re in love:

Light reflects from your shadow

It is more than I thought could exist

You move through the room

Like breathing was easy

If someone believed me

They would be as in love with you as I am…

I’d highly recommend listening to both of their albums as I anticipate what they release in 2015.

What are some videos you first discovered years ago that you still laugh/cry/go hmm at to this day?

I simply write how I feel.

  1. I so feel you. The soundtrack of my life is Britney’s ‘Piece of Me’ (and yes, I do know all the words, and no, I’m not ashamed to sing along) and my top goosebump song is the xx’s ‘Fantasy’… Great list!

  2. Yes, that was a wonderful footballsoccer goal by Xabi Alonso! It’s probably the first time he’s been mentioned in a list with Britney! Keep it coming, more of the same please 🙂
